In the first year of soccer competition in the Massachusetts Senior Games at Springfield College, the Longmeadow senior men's soccer team beat Ludlow on penalty kicks. Regulation ended with the teams knotted at 1-1, but Longmeadow perserved in penbalty kicks to win the first ever gold medal. Ludlow took home the silver.
